Choosing the Right Materials for Toddlers

The illustrations in our rainbows and unicorns collection are designed with thick lines and large open spaces. This layout is highly suitable for toddlers and preschoolers who are just learning to hold crayons and stay within boundaries. Because the shapes are simple, young children can easily complete a page without feeling overwhelmed.

When coloring the large rainbow arcs, kids can practice their color recognition by identifying red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple in order. Washable markers or chunky crayons work best for these broad areas.

Adding Texture to Clouds and Skies

Beyond the main fantasy characters, these pages feature plenty of weather elements that invite mixed-media art. You can have children glue pulled cotton balls onto the paper to make the fluffy clouds physically stand out from the page.

For the stars scattered in the background, glitter pens or metallic gel markers add a nice shine to the finished artwork. If you print the unicorn pages on heavier cardstock, kids can even use light watercolors to paint the sky without wrinkling the paper.

Sweet Treats and Kawaii Elements

Many of the designs in the baby unicorns section include fun extras like oversized lollipops, heart balloons, and baked goods. Children who enjoy the kawaii aesthetic will appreciate these adorable, oversized features. These specific pages are great for quiet afternoon activities or as party favors for a fantasy-themed birthday.

  • Use soft pastel shades like mint, peach, and lavender for the baby unicorns.
  • Color the cupcakes with bright, contrasting icing colors to make them pop.
  • Blend light blues and soft grays for the resting clouds to give them depth.
  • Try neon crayons for the roller skates and racing gear in the action scenes.
