Modern Deputies and Western Lawmen
Law enforcement at the county level looks a bit different from city police departments. A county sheriff is usually an elected official who oversees deputies, runs the local jail, and patrols areas outside city limits. Our collection includes these modern first responders alongside historical figures from the Old West.
Children can color standard uniforms in tan, green, or brown, which are common colors for sheriff departments across the United States. In the historical scenes, you can use dusty browns and denim blues for the classic cowboy attire and wide-brimmed hats.
Fun with Dog Sheriffs
Many children love cartoons featuring animal rescue teams and brave pups. We created a special section of dog sheriffs to give kids a fun way to color their favorite types of characters. You will find a puppy deputy directing traffic, inspecting paw prints, and riding a patrol bicycle.
These pages have thicker lines and friendly faces, making them easy for toddlers and preschoolers to color with large crayons. If your child enjoys these, they might also like our realistic K-9 unit pages. Real departments also rely on highly trained animals to help keep communities safe.
Badges and Patrol Vehicles
The classic star badge is the most recognizable symbol of this office. You can print the large badge designs for craft projects, cutting them out to use in pretend play. We also included several patrol cruisers and SUVs.
When coloring these vehicles, kids can use white, black, or silver for the main body, adding bright red and blue for the light bars on the roof. County vehicles often feature bold graphics and large star decals on the side doors.
- Use metallic markers for the brass or silver star badges.
- Try earth tones like khaki and olive green for modern deputy uniforms.
- Add bright yellow and orange to the traffic vests worn by the crossing guard dogs.
